WHERE DID YOU SEE GOD TODAY? PART 3

Bible Verse: “Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” Exodus 19:5-6, NIV

Scripture Reading: John 4:1-54

If you have made the decision to follow Jesus, there’s a very good chance someone in your life reflected God and revealed his character to you by the way they live, talk, and act.

Who was that person to you?

To me, it was my youth pastor Rob, and it opened me up to see God in a real, transparent way. When we go all the way back to the Old Testament, God asks his people to follow him and to keep his commands. Why? Because then, God will be able to use his people to reflect himself to others in this world.

When Jesus came along in the New Testament, he really emphasizes the importance of following him as his disciple. In fact, he actually says how we reflect his character, and his love will let others see him in this world. As a disciple, culturally, your job was to learn, obey, and reflect the one you were following. This is also one of the many ways God reveals himself to us today. Not through statues, idols, or stained-glass windows – but through regular people who have intentionally made the decision to keep his commands and reflect his nature every single day.

Who was it in your life who revealed God to you by living this way? One of the amazing parts of God is that he has used ordinary people for thousands of years to reveal himself to others, and that still continues today. Maybe today, you will see and hear from God by the ones who reflect his character in your life.
