BECAUSE I HAVE JESUS

In this world you WILL have trouble.

Every single one of us knows life can change in an instant.

It’s when you get that phone call from your mom saying your grandma passed away.
It’s when you are told ‘I want to break up’ by the person you are dating.
It’s when you discover you didn’t get the job or didn’t make the team you tried out for.

Within seconds, life can change and now you’re overwhelmed with anxiety, uncertainty and worry. You’re in autopilot going through each day just trying to make it to the next one. This trouble you face hurts more than you ever expected as you just want this pain to stop.

In the midst of this trouble you say to yourself over and over, ‘no one told me this would happen’.
But here’s the thing that Jesus told us. He says, “In this world you will have trouble…” but as He shares this with His followers, He also tells them about this peace He offers to all of us.

This peace is not the peace assuring us that life will be trouble free. It’s the peace knowing in the midst of our troubles God is with us every step of the way.

A few years ago I was speaking at a Christian international conference in China. I also had the opportunity to lead a small group for young men age 17-19. During one of our small group times after the handsome speaker spoke…cough cough…. One of the high school students in our group spoke up and shared about the trouble he was facing. When he was going back to his country, he needed to join the war. As he spoke about the uncertainty of his future, he said, “I don’t know how it’s all going to turn out, BUT, because I have Jesus, I win.” As you read this today, I don’t know what you’re going through in life and I definitely don’t know how it’s all going to turn out. But, because you have Jesus, you win!

Walk in the peace God brings to you in the midst of your troubles. Take heart no matter what the results look like because the one who has overcome this world is with you every step of the way.
