Bible Verse: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him, all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made.” John 1:1-2, NIV
Scripture Reading: John 1:1-18
I often hear people say they want to see and hear from God, which is usually followed by wanting some out-of-this-world revelation or experience with him. Some people go about seeking this by looking anywhere and everywhere to see and hear from him. Yet, they often forget that right beside their bed or on their phone is a book called the Bible – which is literally God speaking to us.
I know you KNOW that. However, I’m not sure about you, but sometimes I neglect the Bible, and other times I just simply forget this is how God reveals himself to us in 2020.
We have this Book, which was written by real people who were inspired by the Holy Spirit sitting inches away from us each day, yet we look past it.
In the Hebrew culture, these stories about God revealing himself to us were oral stories passed down from one generation after another. Have you ever wondered what would have happened if no one wrote this down? Thankfully, God knew what he was doing as he used different people write these stories down, which formed the Torah, and eventually, what we know as the Bible.
If we want to see and hear from God, we must always start with and continuously go back to his Word. This is God’s primary way that he reveals himself to us. “The God Who Tells” has already told us everything we need to know from Genesis to Revelation, so I encourage you to not overlook him and his Word sitting beside you each day.
