Bible Verse: “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 CSB
Scripture Reading: Psalm 119:9-16
I once heard a pastor say that men give their life to Christ from the waist up. Which made me ask the question – what’s below the waist? The pastor responded by saying they give everything to God except for their wallet and their sex life. The more I think about it, I feel this statement is true.
When it comes to our wallet, living isn’t cheap. I think every man will say they worked hard for their paycheck – only to have a pastor remind us that the Bible says we are supposed to give our first 10% to God. Some of us do this, but maybe not cheerfully. Many of us hold on to our money and have a hard time putting God first in this area of our lives, which I understand when I see the bills rolling in. When we look at the Gospels, Jesus talks about money a lot because he knows it’s close to our hearts. We are also told that we can’t serve two masters. I encourage you to look at your wallet and reflect if God is really the Lord of your finances.
As for our sex life, we don’t even want to talk about that. Whether it’s premarital sex or watching porn, that’s the one area we want to keep God away from. It’s very hard to find a Christian man who is saving himself for marriage because this has become taboo in our culture. As for porn, studies show that 68% of church-going men watch porn. I understand we are men, and this satisfies a need. However, the Bible is very clear on how to follow God’s way in these areas in our life too.
Money and sex might be the hardest areas to make God the Lord. However, you might discover these are the most freeing areas of your life when you’re able to hand them over to him.
