LORD GOD – PART 1

Bible Verse: “Now, without faith, it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 CSB

Scripture Reading: Romans 1:18-25

Although we are going to be focusing on the lordship of God in our lives, I never want to assume that everyone believes in God. In fact, although it is a little counterintuitive, there are many Christian men who don’t really know why they believe if someone were to ask them that question.

As our society becomes more post-Christian, the belief that God doesn’t exist at all has become more and more popular. More so, if we have a culture that is turning away from God, the easiest way for them to justify why he isn’t Lord is to say he isn’t real. When I encounter people who don’t believe, in those conversations I sometimes find myself challenged in the answers I give regarding why I believe in God in the first place. Have you ever experienced that too?

The foundation of many men’s faith and why they believe goes back to their childhood – just believing because their parents told them they need to believe in Jesus. However, as a man, I don’t think us answering “Why do you believe in God?” with “Because my mom told me to” goes far enough. When there’s no depth to our faith, it’s definitely going to be hard to trust him as the authority and Lord of our lives.

If someone asked you why you believe God is real, how would you answer them? I encourage you to take a few minutes throughout the day to reflect on this question personally. Write down how you would respond.
