Bible Verse: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.’ Proverbs 3:5, NIV
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 3:1-12
I know today’s scripture comes across as a little bit cliche for anyone who has grown up in the church, but there is so much truth to this verse when it comes to this area of our lives. As you read yesterday’s devotion, maybe setting goals and following through isn’t challenging for you. However, trusting God with the results might be the challenging part.
When I was in Bible college, one professor said, “Let your dreams be so big that without God, they are bound to fail.” I’m not sure why that spoke to me, but I really felt that was a turning point in my life. Essentially he was saying – let your dreams be so big that you have to depend on God for them to come to pass.
Although I strongly believe we have our part to play when it comes to our dreams and goals, I also truly believe some results can only be accomplished by God. Whether it’s that he opens up the right doors at the right time or puts you in the right place at the right time, I believe trusting God every step of the way is the key. And I also believe it’s the most challenging part.
Maybe last time you pursued something, you felt God let you down or that it didn’t turn out the way you hoped. This time around, it’s a bit hard for you to trust God because your faith has been hindered. Maybe that’s why many of us have stopped pursuing our dreams a long time ago. We have trust issues.
What do you need to do today to regain your trust in God?
